Dog of The Year 2022

Prizes ready for the DOTY, POTY, VOTY and their Reserves.

What a wonderful honour to be asked to judge the Keeshond Clubs DOTY 2022 competition. I had a lovely day, with a warm welcome by the committee and exhibitors. There was an abundance of prizes on offer for the winning dogs, a raffle with a fine array of prizes and a delicious buffet lunch.
A massive well done to the committed and hardworking committee members.
It was the first time I have judged this type of competition, it was a great pleasure seeing and going over such beautiful dogs who were all well presented and a credit to not only their owners but the breed itself. A massive thank you to the exhibitors and all involved in running such an enjoyable event.

A really eye catching dog and such a showman! Gorgeous head, lovely dark eyes and small well placed ears with a typical keeshond expression. He has an excellent reach of neck and compact body, with good spring of rib, well placed tail creating a super outline. Coat was of the correct texture and beautifully presented. Lovely mover, brisk and true. He didn’t put a foot wrong and was just my type, so thrilled to award him DOTY and Best Puppy.

A dog difficult to take your eyes off as he has such ring presence. Gorgeous profile and a good size.
Loved his head which was well proportioned, with neat ears and correct facial markings. Very masculine and a treat to go over, such strong bone and perfect feet. Excellent spring of rib and a high set tail. His coat was perfect colour with well defined markings. Moved and showed well. A really classy male.

Sweet feminine bitch, lovely wedge shaped head with clear spectacles and dark almond eyes. Small well placed ears, pretty foxy expression. Good reach of neck and high set tail creating a lovely balanced profile. A little out of coat today, would love to see her when she is in full bloom! Moved and showed well.

One I had admired from the ringside in the past, a really masculine boy with dark eyes and gorgeous expression. Small neat ears and clear facial markings and spectacles. Lovely to go over, with well sprung ribs and strong bone. Coat is correct in both texture and colour, beautifully presented. He was a little lethargic in putting his ears up today but with encouragement from his owner he pulled it out of the bag at the right time! A quality dog.
