Critique for The Open Show – Judge Peter Young

The Keeshond Club held an open show where BIS was Klompen’s Who’s Your Daddy; RBIS, Liefkees Annabell; BP, Neradmik Family Affair with Lekkerbek; & BV, Mezanda Teacher’s Pet.

I would like to thank the club for the invitation & enjoyable day & also the exhibitors for attending & my lovely stewards who made the day go so well.

MPD (1) 1 Lindsay’s Mezanda Madog’s Storm, promising 8 month old, comfortable size, well shaped head, strong well textured coat of good colour, good body coming. Good shoulder placement & return of upper arm making him stand well over his neat feet. Still young but moved well & briskly.

PD (2) 1 Miles’ Neradmik Family Affair with Lekkerbek, 11 months & more mature & better bodied than his brother who stood second. Stands foursquare & on good well padded feet. Compact body, deep chest, good spring of rib, good tailset & carriage. Good head balance & markings. Sound co-ordinated mover with good carriage & showmanship. Went on to strut his stuff to RBD; 2 Harris’ Neradmik All About The Boy for Watchkees, lighter coloured & lighter bodied at present, but like his brother has many true breed points to admire compact, making a good profile, sound to & fro, comfortable size.

JD (3,1a) 1 Newman’s Leazehond Lighting Bolt, very well balanced medium sized dog, good wedge head & neat well shaped eye & ears, & defined stop. Good head carriage & fore assembly stands well on his feet, strong in pasterns, carrying good body, tight well curled tail; 2 Miles’ Rossvale’s Legacy for Lekkerbek, another by this popular sire, again with good overall breed type & much to like, appears much younger than 1st at present. Steady mover.

YD (1) 1 R Legacy for L.

ND (1) 1 M Madog’s Storm.

PGD (5,2) 1 Edwards’ Torrikees van Hussen, young dog 18 months making a pleasing outline, best colour in this class, has style about him typical in head qualities although a little round & light in eye, good neck into good shoulder placement & return of upper arm, good width to chest & well developed body. Steady mover; 2 Wilkin’s Whizzkees Onyx Samson, smaller dog but well balanced. Most delightful expressive head with flat skull & well positioned small well shaped ears, defined stop & dark correct shaped eye. Well proportioned body shape, good chest, ample bone, not so co-ordinated as 1 on the move; 3 Houghton’s Liefkees Ambassador.

LD (7,2) 1 Peck, Mathews & Stewart’s Klompens Who’s Your Daddy, yet another by a Skylines dog. Young dog appealed very much for type & overall balance. Short, compact, moderate arched neck. Clean brisk sound co-ordinated mover with good head & tail carriage. Firm body shape, good balance of head with defined stop, neat well set ears. Deep chest. Topped with a good harsh stand off coat, OK could be a bit darker in face markings but felt he had so much more to offer. BD & BIS; 2 Miles’ Neradmik Game Plan for Lekkerbek, slightly larger, but still with much to admire, very well bodied, in grand condition standing well on neat well padded feet, good forechest & hind; 3 Benett’s Zandvoort Dream Stone.

OD (5,2) Testing class. 1 Henman’s Foxifayre Doctor Zhivago, compact medium sized dog with such a typical head, flat skull, medium stop, neat well placed ears, good spectacles. Well arched neck into well placed shoulder, good chest, tight elbows co-ordinated mover; 2 Lindsay’s Enrevyar Exceptional with Mezanda, slightly rangier type but with good overall balance. Co-ordinated mover, well shaped dark eye. Not the ribcage of one; 3 Mathews’ Pommary Ruff’n Ready at Valindale.

VD (3,1) 1 Hill’s Plymkees First Edition, smart keen well balanced dog with true typy head. Dark well shaped eye, good shoulder & upper arm, neat firm hindquarter, brisk mover, would have like a bit more body; 2 Rose’s Rossvale Sacred Spirit to Esorkees, larger 8 year old. In good coat, not as co-ordinated as 1 on the move. Expressive eye, bit down on pasterns today.
Breeders D (2,1) 1 Hill’s Plymkees Cool Dude, 4 year old smart dog, tidy co-ordinated mover. Good facial expression, in good coat, big rib, strong loin, stood well over front, good chest & bone.

PB (4,2) 1 Gregory’s Amikirs Bubblelicious, very attractive, correct size, well balanced, coated & bodied young lady. Lovely head qualities, dark almond shaped eye giving good expression, defined stop, neatly placed ears. Fair neck into good shoulder placement, moved with good carriage, very happy with herself today. BPB; 2 Carter’s Amikirs Bucks Fizz of Almraglic, similar to 1 & now I see her sister & many things still apply, again well bodied but not quite as compact as 1.

YB (5,3) 1 Brunt’s Bargeway Nearly An Angel of Zandvoort, very together 14 month old, lovely feminine head qualities, flat skull, plenty of expression. Good arched neck into well laid shoulders & return of upper arm. Neat elbow placement & good width to chest. Strong backend. Moved soundly on good legs & very co-ordinated; 2 Pattison’s Eastkees Sunday Girl, most attractive well balanced head on this young lady. Very sound mover, well bodied, good tail set & carriage, not quite as strong in front assembly as 1.

NB (1) 1 Redier & Wheatlley’s Pommary Almost An Angel, stood alone but very typical. Well balanced & bodied, good spring of rib, firm body condition. Attractive head shape with well shaped eye & good spectacles. Easy fluid mover.

PGB (6,2) 1 B Nearly An Angel of Z; 2 White’s Neradmik Meant To Be with Witchakees, more mature bitch with much to like, pleasing balance of her wedge shaped head, dark well shaped eyes, in grand coat, easy fluid mover, well bodied, good overall balance; 3 Pattison’s Eastkees Daisy’s Mayhem.

LB (9,3) 1 White’s Neradmik Sunday Lovin Morvania, yet another Gameboy offspring. Good size, balance & shape. With good carriage & easy movement. Dark expressive eye on this well shaped head, good arched neck into well placed shoulder & return of upper arm. Well sprung rib & width & depth of chest. Good coat texture & colour, well set tail. RBB; 2 Passmore’s Torrikees Victoria’s Secret, yet another! Younger looking but still much to offer, overall typy & balanced; 3 Saunder’s Liefkees Angelika.

OB (2) 1 Pattison’s Eastkees Timeless Love, classy exhibit with wonderful front assembly, good arched neck, level topline. Well balanced all through, good forechest & width, good stop & depth to jaw. Lovely dark almond expressive eyes, flat skull. Easy fluid mover; 2 Hill’s Pommary Tallulah Lo at Plymkees, slightly more rangy than 1. Intelligent expressive head, fair neck into well laid shoulder, easy mover, in beautiful condition, not as compact as 1.

VB (5,1) 1 Linday’s Mezanda Teacher’s Pet, sprightly 11½ year old, very light & easy on her feet, showing so well. Full of breed type, well balanced front & neat hindquarter, good coat pattern, great credit to her owner. BV; 2 Newman’s Leazehond Maddy Moonlight, very balanced showing good outline. Good head qualities, good front assembly & head carriage; 3 Saunder’s Ch Liefkees Albertine.

Breeders B (5,1) 1 Saunder’s Liefkees Annabell, extremely typy. Very out of coat 3 year old in very fit condition, showing her classical outline. Feminine head of good proportions, flat skull, dark eyes, well set ears. Arched neck into lovely placed shoulder & upper arm. Stands so well over her front on her well padded & shaped feet. Firm well ribbed & deep chested body. Strong loin. So sound on the to & fro, & brisk & crisp on the go round. Good head & tail carriage. BB & BOS; 2 Luckhurst’s Gavimir Black Swan, quality, feminine, well prepared & coated lady of good body shape. Pleasing head for balance & markings. Firm body with deep chest & good spring of rib. Good well shaped feet, but a little wayward on the move today; 3 Hill’s Plymkees Limited Edition.

The Special Awards Critique – Judge Toni Jackson

Thoroughly enjoyed judging the Special Classes at the Keeshond Club open show, the club are to be commended for putting these classes on to help judges gain experience.

Special Yearling (7,3) 1. Passmore’s TORRIKEES VICTORIA’S SECRET, 18 month bitch very feminine throughout.  Excellent coat and well boned.  Compact shape, though personally would like little more of her.  Very pretty head, lovely shaped eyes and well defined spectacles to give lovely expression.  Well defined stop, flat skull and high set small ears.  Muzzle and skull balanced.   Correct angulation, and lovely high set tight double curled tail.  Stands attentively on tight cat feet.  Very good on the move from all angles.  2. Harris’ NERADMIK ALL ABOUT THE BOY FOR WATCHKEES TAF, strong made masculine pup (11 months) excellent bone and lovely tight cat feet.  Good neck and topline to high set tail.  Good angulation.  In super coat and well presented and schooled.  Attractive head, well define stop, fluffy pup coat on head does make skull look a little round, but hands on show correct flat skull, though would prefer ears a little smaller.  Moved soundly.  3. Lindsay’s MEZANDA MADOGS STORM.  Special Limit (7,3) 1. Bell’s FOXIFAYRE HIDDEN TREASURE ALLFORUS, lovely mature bitch, compact in profile, with correct length of leg and well fitting coat.  Excellent presentation, very attentive to handler.   Loved her reach of neck, and good angulation, which gives her lively straight movement.  Very beautiful head and expression, excellent eye shape and spectacles, correct high set tiny ears, flat skull.  2. White’s NERADMIK MEANT TO BE WITH WHITCHAKEES, longer cast bitch, little too long in loin.  Correct bone and in good coat.  Good angulation, correct high set tight curled tail.  Feminine head, good eye shape, colour and spectacles,  ears rather large and pointed.  Rather erratic on the move today.  3. Houghton’s LIEFKEES AMBASSADOR.  Special Open (5,2) 1. Henman & Peterson’s FOXIFAYRE DOCTOR ZIVAGO, very masculine mature male, compact in profile – but carrying a little too much weight.  Correct head, muzzle and skull balanced, correct eye and defined spectacles.  Ears set correctly, high on head, well defined stop.  Coat texture very harsh and though tail is well set and tightly curled it lacked a little furnishing.  Moved ok, though front affected slightly by weight.  2. Sanders’ LIEFKEES ANNABELL, bitch of good size and bone, compact in body.  Rather in-between coats which spoiled overall picture on the day.  Good breadth and depth of chest, good angulation.  Head balanced with well defined stop, but found skull little round, and ears were set rather wide and looked long without sufficient furnishings.  3. Harding’s AMKIRS AMOUR.
