The Keeshond Club
Open Show
31st January 2015

My thanks to the committee of the Keeshond Club for the invitation to judge our wonderful breed, and the hard work they put in to make it an enjoyable day for all. Thank you also to the exhibitors for allowing me the pleasure of judging their dogs. With today’s exhibits in general I did not see excessive coats. As should always be the case my placings and top winners were judged on the day from dogs exhibited in front of me. I would also like to thank my two stewards.

Minor Puppy Dog (1)
1. Hickson’s Kichigai Luke Skywalker – Pleasing wedge shaped head with dark muzzle & eye correct size and proportions. Well set tail with good plume at 9 months, fitted jacket good colour & markings, moved well when settled Best Dog Puppy & Best Puppy in Show.

Puppy Dog (3)
1. K. Luke Skywalker
2. Battram’s Vanstrand Hungry Heart – smaller dog pleasing head, eye, fitted jacket but requires to clear in colour. Unsteady on the move.
3. Bowden-Roche & Bowden’s Bargeway Point Blank

Junior Dog (1)
1. Jones Eastkees Silver Penny – I believe at his first show. Upstanding dog with fine bone, colour and markings still to come through. Unsteady on the move, requires to be worked on to improve.

Special Yearling Dog (2)
1. Lindsay’s Mezanda Madog’s Storm – Good wedge shaped head & skull, would have liked a darker eye, good size four square when standing, correct fitted jacket, good colour and markings, moved a bit close at the
front today.
2. E. Silver Penny

Novice Dog (1)
1. E. Silver Penny

Post Graduate Dog (5, 1ab)
1. Atkinson’s Winklestar Hadar – Pleasing masculine head and eye. Stood foursquare. Well proportioned, fitted jacket of good colour, markings and tail set, moved brisk and clean going and coming. Res. Best Dog & Res. Best in Show.
2. Edwards Torrikees Van Heusen – Typical head qualities I would like a darker eye. Good neck, rib, pleasing outline. Not the movement of 1.
3. Waller’s Brykin Big Chief

Limit Dog (5,1ab)
1. Harris’ Neradmik All About The Boy For Watchkees TAF – Wedge shaped head, well proportioned with good eye. Good for size & balance, standing four square with well laid shoulders & neck, good shaped rib, strong well made rear, making clean brisk straight movement, fitted jacket with good colour & markings. I was pleased to award him on the day Best Dog & Best in Show.
2. Andrews Neradmik Help The Hero at Maldine – Masculine wedge shaped  head with good eye. Well boned & body light in colour, I believe less coat could have improved the general picture. He moved satisfactory when settled.
3. Newman’s Leazehond Lightning Bolt

Open Dog (4)
1. Atkinson’s Torrikees Who’s The Boss at Winklestar – Well proportioned wedge shaped head with dark muzzle, I would have liked the eye slightly darker. Carried a good textured and colour coat. Good balanced dog. Moved very soundly.
2. Brunt’s Sueacres Iced Diamond of Zandvoort – Lovely expression wedge shaped head well placed ears, good bone. Well set tail, compact body but I would prefer better colour and movement.
3. Lindsay’s Enrevyar Exceptional with Mezanda

Veteran Dog (3, 2ab)
1. Pasmore’s Am. Gr. Ch. Trumpet’s It’s Good To Be King (imp USA) – Pleasing head and expression at nearly 71/2 years, this dog was in very good condition. Well balanced, good length of neck, well boned, carrying a coat of good definition and colour. Sound moving enjoying his day a pleasure to judge. Best Veteran in Show.

Breeders Dog (3)
1. Hill’s Plymkees Cool Dude Sh CM – Masculine wedge shaped head with good eye, upstanding dog, of good size, good neck, lovely fitted jacket with definition of coat colour. Good bone. Movement good when settled.
2. M. Madog’s Storm
3. V. Hungry Heart

Minor Puppy Bitch (4,1ab)
1. Atkinson’s Winklestar Countess – Pleasing feminine head with good eye & ears, good set tail. Good outline when standing. Coat of good texture and amount for age. Moved well fore and aft.

2. Tew’s Bargeway Quest For Fame – Another feminine head with dark muzzle, compact bitch, dense coat of correct texture but requires to clear in colour, unsteady on the move.
3. Burgess’ Winklestar Duchess

Puppy Bitch (6,3ab)
1. Tew’s Bargeway Pumpkin Pie – Foxy feminine head with good eye and ears, good neck, compact bitch in body and rib, dense coat with correct texture, good definition of markings & clarity of colour. Moved well from all angles. Best Puppy Bitch
2. Clark’s Byquy Jazz for Kwajongen – The most delightful foxy feminine head, with correct eye and ears. Correct texture of coat with good definition of markings. Good in body and rib, good outline when standing.
Unsettled on the move to day.
3. Hill’s Whizzkees Ebony Silver for Plymkees

Special Yearling Bitch (1,1ab)

Novice Bitch (3,1ab)
1. Pattison’s Eastkees Silver Sixpence – Feminine head and expression, good size and shape, would like more definition of markings to coat to finish. Moved OK when settled.

3. Wadmore-Smith’s Neradmil Gucci at Szaryk

Limit Bitch (7,1ab)
1. Tew’s Bargeway Neat And Tidy – Correct name for this bitch, very pleasing head expression and eye, nice size & substance, good rib and topline carrying a good fitted jacket, but needs to clear. Movement clean and
brisk. Res. Best Bitch
2. Passmore’s Torrikees Victoria’s Secret – Very feminine expression, good eye and ears, in good coat. Correct rib and body, good topline and outline standing four square. Moved soundly. Would have liked a tad more of her.

Open Bitch (2)
1. Gregory’s Ch. Amikirs Bubblelicious JW – Typical feminine head super expression & eye, well placed ears. Good size and colour with rich markings, so sound with lovely outline, confirmation & movement. Unfortunately in the challenges the sound movement was lost. Lovely Keeshond Bitch. Best Bitch, Best  Opposite Sex

Special Award Classes

I would like to thank all who entered today and say that it was a privilege to have such a good representation of the breed to go over. Once the dogs got used to the flooring their movement settled somewhat, but back movement was uncertain in some.

Class A
Special
Yearling 8 entries, 2 absentees. 1. Gregory’s Ch Amikirs Bubblelicious JW. A very pretty feminine bitch with a lovely foxy head, neat ears and dark eye. She has clarity of markings and colour and a balanced outline. Coat is of the correct texture and amount. She moved in a sprightly fashion. In fact she is a joy to go over. 2. Tew’s Bargeway Pumpkin Pie. Again a delightful bitch to go over. Not quite as pretty as 1, but no doubt with maturity she will more than come into her own. A lovely compact bitch with good definition of markings and clarity of colour. She carries a dense coat of correct texture. She moved well. 3. Lindsay’s Mezanda Madog’s Storm. A masculine dog but still displaying a foxy head. He has a firm compact body and is well marked and has the correct texture of coat. He moved well. I would prefer a darker eye.

Class B
Special
Limit 8 entries, 0 absentees. 1. Tew’s Bargeway Neat and Tidy. A lovely young lady to go over and lives up to her name. A well put together bitch with clear markings and colour. A lovely dark eye and delightful head and expression. Ivy shaped ears and good reach of neck. She looked good on the move. 2. Lush’s Buchkees Love in a Mist. A lovely, masculine dog with a balanced outline; good coat of correct texture, clear markings and clean legs and feet. A well proportioned, foxy head with almond shaped dark eye. Neat ears, good reach of neck. Excellent bone and spring of rib. Moved well. 3. Atkinson’s Winklestar Hadar. A smart young dog with a foxy head and a muscular body. Good colour and markings. Moved in a sprightly fashion. Lost out on maturity to 2.

Class C
Special Open 3 entries, 0 absentees. 1. Lindsay’s Enrevyar Exceptional with Mezanda. A mature boy shown and presented well. Well proportioned with a lovely outline. Full coat with good markings and texture. Foxy head; masculine expression. Good bone and lay of shoulder. High tail set. Moved very well. 2. Brunt’s Sueacres Iced Diamond of Zandvoort. A dog I have long admired, but today refused to show himself to his best advantage. He is a well balanced dog with a foxy head and expression. He did settle and showed himself well later in the morning. 3. Lush’s Zandvoort Heaven’s Dream for Ednaaron. A sweet 8 year old girl representing our older dogs beautifully. She has a darker, well marked coat of the right texture. A little long cast. Foxy head and expression. Good tail set. Steady on the move.
